Research & Planning

Gaining insight & empathy

Mortgage applications are unnecessarily difficult for users, thanks to the sheer pain of completing forms. Problems included the use of technical language in forms, needless questions, while serious usability issues prevented many users from completing applications.

Workshop findings

Over the course of 10 days we involved key stakeholders and covered a wide range of activities

Program Vision

" We want Scotiabank to be the first Canadian bank to digitize the end-to-end home ownership experience "

Information Design Analysis

We will be the first to digitize the mortgage application process to make it simple, personalised, and convenient in order to alter the mortgage landscape in Canada

Define

Re-examined the Sitemap

We simplified the site's initial structure by combining similar information onto single pages and  renamed menu items to make the navigation more intuitive.

Design

Annotated Wireframes

We knew from our research that the onboarding and application form page were where drop off could occur. We explored a variety of layouts for those two pages in wireframes to determine which type of layout would create an easy and engaging user experience.

Final Design

Design System

Simplifying complexity

Scotia atomic design system aims to make complex information approachable and beautiful. This is achieved through the use of more humanistic elements, and organic animated graphics that infuse the site with life and personality.

Final Design

Designing a website that's relevant and relatable

We stitched together flat-screen designs using the prototyping tool, Invision, to create a click-through of the overall customer journey.

The prototype is only a thin slice of the full end-to-end journey and only contains key stages within the application flow.

Motion design

Motions & Interactions

Delightful animation to smoothen our user's journey as being closer to owning a home is a big feat.

Thank You!

I hope you enjoyed viewing this project as much as I did creating it :)
